A Tennessee State Trooper was hurt while he was investigating a vehicle accident in Putnam County Monday on I-40 at the 270 mile marker. Trooper Michael Robertson stopped to investigate the crash involving 26-year-old Kaci Scudder of Carthage. While Robertson was in his cruiser, a Hyundai Elantra suddenly rear-ended the patrol car. The impact caused the cruiser to strike Scudders, who was standing outside near her vehicle. The Hyundai was driven by 25-year-old Mariah L. Martinez of Hendersonville. All three received treatment at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and later released. Charges are pending against Martinez.
