THREE MAJOR BRIDGES IN AREA DEEMED STRUCTURALLY DEFICIENT

Almost 1,000 major bridges in Tennessee are being labeled structurally deficient in a blistering report released by the American Road and Transportation Association and three of them are in the listening area. Of the just over 20,000 bridges in the state, 953 are classified as structurally deficient. The state has identified needed repairs on an additional 7,257 bridges which the state estimates will cost $8.3 billion to repair. The three bridges deemed deficient in the listening area include two over Interstate 75 in Anderson County that were built 1969 and one over Interstate 40 on Highway 321 in Loudon County constructed in 1960.
