Authorities say two tractor-trailers collided this afternoon (Friday, October 27, 2017) on Highway 111 in Putnam County, resulting in one of the tractor-trailers exploding after a fuel tank on one of the cab was ruptured. The accident took place in front of the Super Truck Stop near Interstate 40. Authorities said a the vehicles collided as one of the trucks slowed to turn into the truck stop. Troopers cited one of the drivers with following too closely and failing to exercise due care. Fire crews worked for a while to bring the fire under control. Northbound traffic on Highway 111 was closed as crews worked to clear the scene.
