TROOPERS TO HOLD SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT IN ROANE CO. NOV. 15, 2019
The Tennessee Highway Patrol will set up a sobriety checkpoint tonight (November 15, 2019) on Highway 27 just south of Delozier Lane (in front of the plaza that has the Rockwood Flea Market in it). Troopers will be looking for motorist who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The checkpoints are announced ahead of time because the United States Supreme Court ruled they were constitutional, but mandated that checkpoints must be publicized ahead of time. If authorities do not publicize a checkpoint it can be considered a detention without reasonable suspicion, and that violates Fourth Amendment rights.
