TWO CUMBERLAND COUNTY CHILDREN RECEIVE BURNS IN FLASH FIRE ACCIDENT

Two Cumberland County children received second-degree burns in a fluke accident Tuesday evening. According to sources, the accident took place around 6:30 PM at a Lantana Rd. location when a father was attempting to start a fire with lighter fluid. The bottle slipped from his hands and splashed on two boys standing nearby causing a flash fire. The 4-year-old received burns to his face and singed hair while an 8-year-old at the scene received burns to his chest, arms and face. A landing zone was established at the Lantana Road Baptist Church and both children were airlifted to area trauma centers for treatment. No names were included in the reports and the children’s condition is unknown.
