U.S. MARSHAL’S OFFICE WARNS OF REGIONAL SCAM

U.S. Marshals are warning residents across the region of a potential phone scam. Many have reported phone calls from the U.S. Marshal Service claiming they missed jury duty. The callers then demand a fine be paid or face legal action. To make the calls more believable, information such as title and badge number of law enforcement offers are provided. Marshals have confirmed that this is a scam. If you receive a jury duty related call, do not send money and do not provide any of your personal information. The U.S. Marshal Service does not call or e-mail prospective jurors. They also do not ask for money or personal information, and arrest warrants are never served by phone.
