U.T. CHANCELLOR DISMISSED FROM JOB AND WILL BE FACULTY MEMBER AT UNIVERSITY

The University of Tennessee said today Beverly Davenport’s appointment as chancellor will end July 1, 2018, as she becomes a member of the faculty in the College of Communication and Information. UT said an interim chancellor would be named soon. A reason for Davenport’s dismissal as chancellor was not given in the statement released by the university. Davenport was selected as the eighth chancellor of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in December 2016, and she arrived in early 2017 after serving as interim president. UT’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Davenport as the first female chancellor of the university system’s Knoxville campus. She previously served as the senior vice president and provost at the University of Cincinnati. She also has administrative experience at Purdue University, the University of Kansas and the University of Kentucky.
