CROSSVILLE POST OFFICE “STAMP OUT HUNGER” FOOD DRIVE COMING UP
The Crossville Post Office will hold their annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive Saturday, May 12, 2018. Last year carriers collected more than 75 million pounds of food nationwide. The total donations received since the drive began in 1993 stands at almost 1.6 billion pounds. Last year in Cumberland County, more than 13 tons of non-perishable food was collected and distributed to eight local food pantries. This represents an increase of about 3,400 pounds from 2016. On Saturday, May 12, 2018, you may place non-perishable food items at mailboxes for food-pantry volunteers or mail carriers to collect, or you may bring non-perishable food donation to the lobby of the Crossville Post Office. The top-requested non-perishable food items are: cereal, pasta, pasta sauce or spaghetti sauce, rice, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meals (such as soups, chili and pasta), 100% juice, peanut butter, macaroni & cheese, canned protein (tuna, chicken and turkey), or beans (canned or dry). You also can donate healthy, low-sodium, low-sugar items such as oatmeal and other whole grains, and canola or olive oil. For additional information, go to www.NALC.org
