WIND FARM REGULATIONS BEING LOOKED AT BY STATE OFFICIALS
A bill concerning wind farm regulations is up for discussion in state committees this week. For some time, residents in the Fairfield Glade and Crab Orchard area of Cumberland County have been objecting to the proposed placement of the Apex Wind Farm on Millstone Mountain. They say the wind turbines cause health and ecological problems and have been protesting at county commission meetings for months. Sen. Paul Bailey and State Rep. Cameron Sexton have drafted a bill asking the state to conduct an investigation into other state regulations on the matter and report back to the General Assembly. They say that Tennessee is one of only four states that do not have such regulations. “There are currently no regulations in the state of Tennessee as a small businessman, I hate regulations but you find yourself sometimes in a situation where there’s something that’s not being regulated that needs to be regulated, we need to do so,” Bailey said.
