WOMAN CHARGED WITH CHILD AB– USE

A Fentress County woman has been charged with child abuse in Cumberland County. According to the arrest report from the sheriff’s department, a deputy responded to an area off of Highway 127 for a vehicle in a ditch. While there assisting troopers, the deputy was approached by a homeowner informing him of an intoxicated woman in another vehicle that walked up and asked for help for the one involved in the accident. Deputies went to the woman in the vehicle, 29-year-old Jessica Nicole Miller of Clarkrange, and allegedly detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from her. Officers also noted a 5-year-old female with Miller with only a t-shirt and pants on in temperatures in the lower 40’s. The homeowner got a blanket for the child to keep her warm. Deputies charged Miller with child abuse based on her alleged intoxicated state and the state of the child. The child was later released to a family member. Miller was transported to the Cumberland County jail.
