2023 HOLDER-BUSH SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Each year the Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District awards a $300 Holder-Bush Memorial Scholarship to honor Elmer Holder and Chester Bush. Elmer Holder served Cumberland County for 22 years as District Conservationist with the Soil Conservation Service and Chester Bush served Cumberland County for 29 years as District Conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service. These two men together contributed 51 years of service to conservation in Cumberland County.

The scholarship is awarded to a Cumberland County student who will be or is currently attending Tennessee Technological University and majoring in some field of Agriculture. This year the district board awarded four scholarships.

The first recipient is Kallie Hale who is majoring in Agribusiness. She is the daughter of Allen & Toni Hale. The second scholarship recipient is Sophie Helton. Sophie is the daughter of Robert & Sandy Helton, and her major is Agriculture Communications.

The third and fourth recipients are Abbigail Miller, an Agriculture Education major, and Agribusiness major Maggie Miller. They are the daughters of Zack and Cory Miller.
