HARRIMAN GIRL SLOWLY RECOVERING AFTER ACCIDENT

A Roane County, Tennessee girl is slowly recovering at Children’s Hospital in Knoxville after being injured in a mini-bike accident Wednesday (September 27, 2017). According to the accident report released yesterday (Friday, September 29, 2017) a vehicle driven by 31-year-old Jami Keen was heading east on Renfro Road approaching the intersection with White Road. Officers say 12-year-old Loretta Ketterer of Harriman was heading north on White Road on a mini-motorcycle and approached the intersection when officers say Keen ran the stop sign and hit Ketterer. The mini-bike hit the right front fender of Keen’s car, causing the child to be ejected. Keen and a passenger in her vehicle were not injured. Ketterer was airlifted to UT Medical Center in Knoxville then transferred to children’s hospital for treatment. Loretta sustained multiple broken bones on her left side. Her foot and ankle were crushed, the bones shattered and a tear in one lung, and road rash on her right side. Loretta’s mother said doctors are preparing to do surgery on her foot and ankle. The great news is that there was no head, neck or back trauma and no serious internal injuries. Loretta is an honor student at Harriman Middle School. (STORY NOTE – this is a follow up story to the original story we brought you Thursday to include the accident report)
