MAN ALLEGEDLY CROSSES STRAIGHT INTO A ROCK ON VANDEVER ROAD IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
On April 8, 2026, at approximately 12:00 AM (midnight) in rural Cumberland County, a single-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Blaylock Road and Vandever Road. Deputy Joshua R. Alderman of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident, assisted by Deputy Jordan Winningham.
The driver, 27-year-old Boston Ray Faulhaber, was operating a 1987 Chevrolet S14 gray compact pickup truck northbound on Blaylock Road. He failed to obey the stop sign at the intersection with Vandever Road, continued straight across, and struck a large rock/embankment on the roadside. The vehicle came to rest blocking one lane of Vandever Road. There were no other vehicles, pedestrians, or occupants involved.
Faulhaber, who was wearing a shoulder and lap belt and was not ejected, sustained possible injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to CMC ER. No alcohol or drugs were suspected, and no field sobriety or chemical tests were conducted. The truck sustained disabling damage to the front end and was towed from the scene.
