CROSSVILLE MAN ARRESTED ON METH CHARGES AFTER CALLING POLICE TO MCDONALD’S

A local man is facing drug charges after he requested to speak with law enforcement at a fast-food restaurant and subsequently handed over illegal narcotics.

According to an incident report from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Caleb Charles responded to the McDonald’s on North Main Street just after 11:00 PM on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, regarding a man who wanted to speak with an officer.

Upon arrival, Deputy Charles made contact with 27-year-old Timothy Austin Abston. The deputy noted that Abston was exhibiting “extremely unusual and erratic behavior” consistent with being under the influence of a controlled substance.

During the interaction, Deputy Charles asked Abston to show him the contents of his pockets. Abston voluntarily agreed and pulled out a wallet, immediately telling the deputy that there was methamphetamine inside it.

A subsequent search of the wallet revealed a folded $20 bill containing a white, crystal-like substance.

Approximately 0.01 grams of a white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Abston was arrested without incident and transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Intake for booking and processing. He has been charged with manufacturing, delivering, selling, or possessing methamphetamine.

The seized substance has been submitted to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) for formal testing. Abston is being held on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on August 3, 2026.
