DRIVER FACING CHARGES AFTER ALLEDGED HIT-AND-RUN DESTROYS DOWNTOWN STATUE
A local woman is facing legal trouble after a wild late-night driving sequence left a downtown art piece destroyed and her vehicle crashed into a tree. According to police reports from the Crossville Police Department, the incident began just before 12:30 AM on June 30, 2026. A black Chevy Equinox, driven by Jerrica Fults, was observed swerving wildly across North Main Street.
Witnesses near Social Brew, located at 140 N. Main St., reported seeing the SUV swerve into the oncoming northbound lane, mount the sidewalk, and plow directly into a metal statue owned by Downtown Crossville Inc.
The impact completely uprooted the sculpture from the ground. Bystanders reported that the vehicle nearly struck them before backing up and fleeing the scene, prompting an immediate 911 call.
Shortly after the hit-and-run, police officers, including Sptl. Zimmerman and Reporting Officer Gage Gunnels, responded to a secondary DUI crash involving the same black Equinox. In that secondary incident, Fults had reportedly crashed into a tree.
Crossville Police utilized the city’s Flock camera system to confirm that Fults’ vehicle was in the immediate area of Social Brew at 12:24 AM, perfectly matching the timeline of the initial destruction.
While Fults was receiving medical treatment for injuries at the Cumberland Medical Center, officers informed her that a warrant had been issued for her arrest on charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage.
According to police reports, Fults claimed she “did not even know she had struck anything besides the tree” in the second crash.
As of the latest updates, Downtown Crossville Inc. has not yet provided an exact dollar value for the destroyed metal statue. The investigation remains ongoing, and a minor accident report has been finalized for the initial downtown collision.
