A pipeline worker was arrested on August 6, 2026, after police caught him driving erratically in a silver dually truck while intoxicated and in possession of a loaded handgun.

According to the Crossville Police Department, Officer Amy Sherrill responded to a tip regarding a possible intoxicated driver in a silver 2019 Chevy Silverado dually truck near E. First St. and Dayton Spur Rd. at approximately 7:59 p.m. Officer Sherrill located the vehicle traveling at 40 to 45 mph in a 30 mph zone, straddling the center of the road over double yellow lines. The driver, identified as Lucas Comeaux, nearly caused a collision when he pulled out in front of another vehicle while making a turn onto Cook Rd. near Stone Elementary School.

During the traffic stop, officers observed that Comeaux had red, watery eyes, slurred speech, and an odor of alcohol. Comeaux admitted to officers that he had consumed alcohol prior to driving. He subsequently failed multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and declined a preliminary breath test, admitting he believed he was over the legal limit.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered a loaded Glock 21 .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun—with a round chambered—wedged between the driver’s seat and the center console within arm’s reach of the intoxicated driver.

Comeaux was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. He consented to a blood draw executed via a search warrant. Comeaux has been formally charged with Driving Under the Influence and Possession of a Handgun While Under the Influence. The firearm, ammunition, holster, and blood evidence were secured by the police department for processing.
