Curtis Richard Hood is scheduled for a court deadline in the Cumberland County Circuit Criminal Court on September 8, 2026. Hood faces a charge of aggravated child abuse, neglect, or endangerment of a child aged 8 and under, stemming from a February 2024 filing.

The case originated in December when the Department of Children Services contacted the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office to investigate Hood following the hospitalization of a baby at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital for injuries.

Hood was initially arrested and held on a $250,000 bond, and currently maintains a $100,000 surety bond through Tennessee Bonding Company with representation from attorney Howard Upchurch.
