ACCIDENT ON INTERSTATE 40 INJURES TWO

A two-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 near Monterey this morning (Wednesday, October 11, 2017) resulted in two injuries. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a 2010 Jeep Commander driven by 51-year-old Carmen Neal of Knoxville was passing a 2015 Honda Fit driven by 66-year-old Michelle McConnell of Crossville as both were heading west at the 296 mile marker. Troopers say Neal merged over and hit the front of McConnell’s vehicle causing her to run off the interstate and overturn. Neal also went off the interstate and into a tree line. McConnell and a passenger in her vehicle, 52-year-old Norman Parkhurst Jr. of Crossville, were both transported by ambulance to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained. Neal was reportedly not injured in the accident. (Photo courtesy of Heather Fischer)
