ANDERSON COUNTY DEPUTIES APPREHEND ESCAPED INMATE IN CLINTON
What’s been termed an “exhaustive search” of Morgan and Anderson counties has come to an end in Clinton. Friday afternoon, Anderson County deputies found 39-year-old escaped inmate Damian Vincent Reynolds hiding in a home off Johnny Smith Lane in the Dutch Valley community. He was believed to have been hiding out there the entire time since his escape on Wednesday.
Reynolds is said to have escaped by mixing in with inmates who were being released. As he was just being booked into the facility, Reynolds was not wearing a prison uniform and so was able to blend in with those prisoners being discharged.
Authorities say Reynolds was taken into custody without incident. In addition to felony theft of a motor vehicle, failure to appear and other misdemeanor charges, he now faces escape and theft of a vehicle charges.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office was aided in the search for Reynolds by the county’s aggressive criminal-enforcement division and the Morgan and Knox counties’ sheriff’s departments.
Investigators have not released information as to whether anyone else in the residence where Reynolds was found will face charges.
