AREA SCHOOLS CLOSED FRIDAY, JANUARY 31, 2020 BECAUSE OF THE FLU

The following school systems will be closed tomorrow (Friday, January 31, 2020) because of the flu:

Anderson, Fentress, Knox, Loudon, Morgan, Overton and Roane.

Cumberland County had an attendance percentage of just under 92 percent today (it reportedly was 94 percent yesterday) so Cumberland County schools will be in session tomorrow (Friday, January 31, 2020).

105.7 News just spoke with the Cumberland County School System. They told us there are several factors involved in making the decision to close schools because of illness. The school system does not have a policy regarding a certain percentage of students and teachers out to call school off. They look at several factors including the attendance numbers of the students as well as the teachers. Take for example today with the just under 92 percent of students in school in Cumberland County. That means just over 600 were absent today, mainly because of illness.
