AUGUST UNEMPLOYMENT NUMBERS UP SLIGHTLY
Tennessee’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August showed an increase in nearly half of the state’s 95 counties. The state rate was up slightly from 4.3 in July to 4.4 in August. Cumberland County’s rate remained the same at 5.9 percent. Roane County’s unemployment rate rose from 5.6 to 5.9 percent. Williamson County had the state’s lowest unemployment rate at 3.7 percent, while Hancock County had the highest at 8.0 percent.
