BILL MAKING IT EASIER FOR VETERANS TO GET HANDGUN PERMIT GOES TO GOVERNOR
Gov. Bill Haslam may soon sign a bill making it easier for veterans to get a handgun permit. Anyone that currently applies for a handgun permit must take a class, pass a written test and a test on the firing range. State Sen. Paul Bailey says his bill would make it easier for veterans to get the permit. The bill allows veterans to show they have passed small arms qualification or combat pistol training, instead of passing the civilian firing range portion of the permit. The bill passed in both the House and Senate.
