COURTNEY CASH MURDER CASE MAY GET A NEW PROSECUTOR

The case against a man accused of killing the grand niece of country music legend Johnny Cash continues to garner headlines. Criminal Court Judge David Patterson is entertaining a motion to remove the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office from the proceedings. The suspect, Wayne Gary Masciarella is accused in the first degree stabbing death of Courtney Cash. Her boyfriend, William Austin Johnson, has been determined to be one of the prime witnesses, but according to Judge Patterson, because of past testimony, Johnson has proven himself inconsistent with giving information in the case. The main inconsistency is that Johnson has stated that he has not used methamphetamine, yet he tested positive for the drug just 10 days before the murder. The DA’s Office maintains that Johnson is not the main witness. The defense has also requested a dismissal of the case due to the fact that several syringes were destroyed by authorities within a day of Cash’s death and that the amount of meth in her bloodstream was beyond a lethal amount.
