CRASHED SPORTS CAR FOUND AT END OF CROSSVILLE AIRPORT RUNWAY

Crossville police went to Crossville Memorial Airport Saturday to a report of a sports car found crashed at the end of the runway. A witness told officers he saw the vehicle driven by James Ashley Cantrell of Oakfield, Tennessee traveling at a high rate of speed along side a B25 bomber attempting to take off that was there for a recent fly in. Officers noted skid marks for about 50 yards before the vehicle left the runway and went airborne off the backside of the taxiway. The vehicle was checked and no one was in it. Authorities contacted the FAA and head of the airport and it was determined that no wrong doing was done on Cantrell’s part. The vehicle was towed off the property.
