CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL RECEIVES SPECIAL CENSUS UPDATE

Crossville is currently in the midst of a special census. The city council approved the census earlier this year after estimating that the city has some 800 new residents that should be counted in state-funding. According to Mayor Pro Tem JH Graham, that could result in the city reaping up to $100,000 annually for the General Fund. To date, workers are at the half-way point of conducting the census, with approximately 2,751 homes being visited. Just over 2200 homes remain to be visited by census workers and according to Director Arnold Harbolt, the projected date for the wrap-up is Dec. 17, 2017. Harbolt said that an imposter had been reported as going around to homes, but he assured the council that each legitimate census worker carries an identification badge and a letter of authorization from Mayor James Mayberry.
