Monterey Officials have approved a certificate of compliance for the owner of the town’s first proposed liquor store. According to Monterey Mayor Bill Wiggins, the town’s Alcoholic Beverage Committee granted the certificate to Sherry L. Lawson who has planned to open the store, Spigot Wine and Liquors, in the old Rocky Pops Barbecue on East Stratton Ave. The decision is now in the hands of the state Alcoholic Beverage Commission in Nashville. After they receive the information, residents will be able to contact the state ABC to make any comments or concerns about the matter. Wiggons commented that Lawson has also complied with other rules and regulations connected with opening the store.
