CROSSVILLE’S INTERIM POLICE CHIEF RECEIVES 5% PAY HIKE
Although Friday’s special-called Crossville City Council meeting was short it did not go without some controversy. At a previous meeting, the subject of giving interim Police Chief Mark Rosser a five percent raise was brought up because Chief Rosser had been undertaking new responsibilities in the position. Friday, Council Member Pete Souza said that he wanted to squash the rumors that Chief Rosser was being “bought” because he would be called as a witness to testify on ethic’s violations. Immediately afterward, Council Member Jesse Kerley stated that he “wished that the council could hold a meeting without spread of rumors or innuendo” made. The council approved the pay raise and afterward, Mayor Pro Tem Pamela Harris made a motion for the city manager to hire a permanent police chief on or before Dec. 31st of this year. That motion also passed.
