A Cumberland County child needs a kidney transplant.

The parents of Huxley Morris say they met Friday with a kidney transplant team at Vanderbilt University.

Johnathan and Kayla Morris have worked to get Huxley to 22 pounds, as his weight was the only thing holding him back. Huxley weighed 20.19 pounds on Friday. The transplant team informed them that 20 pounds is the minimum weight for a transplant.

They got the green light to share the living donor interest link. Huxley will need a donor with either Type B or Type O blood, the positive or negative blood does not matter. The ages for a living donor are 18-55.

The family fully understands a lot goes into being a donor. Huxley’s parents need donors interested in moving forward in case his parents are not a match. Huxley has made it two years without dialysis, but it has been close to being forced to move forward with dialysis.

The more donors the family can potentially have means the faster Huxley can receive a kidney and start a new chapter of his life, feel so much better, and start eating all the foods a toddler should be able to eat.

Once the form is submitted, it goes straight to the donation team. They filter who would be a potential match. They will contact the potential donor to move forward with testing. ALL medical bills will be covered if you choose to donate.
