DEPUTIES ATTEMPT TO STOP DRIVER IN HIGH-SPEED CHASE
Cumberland County authorities are searching for a man who led them on a pursuit this past weekend. A deputy attempted to pull over a black Honda car on Westel Road near the interstate because the driver was not wearing a seat belt. The motorist sped away on I-40 heading east at speeds of over 130 miles per hour. The chase ended at the 347 mile marker in Roane County when officers found the vehicle but the driver had fled the scene. Deputies noted that the ignition on the car was broke out. The vehicle was towed by authorities.
