A local woman died in a fatal two-vehicle accident in Crossville Tuesday afternoon. Police and emergency personnel answered the call at the intersection of Northside Dr. and Highway 70 North around 5:30 PM where a vehicle had rear-ended a second vehicle. According to reports, the driver of the first vehicle, a 56-year-old female, was transported to Cumberland Medical Center. She was unresponsive but showed no visible signs of injuries. However, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Authorities believe a prior medical condition may have been a factor in the crash. The occupants of the second vehicle, a 35-year-old woman, a 9-year-old female and a 7-year-old boy, refused treatment. No names were released.
