A fire at the Goldston Apartment Rentals in Rockwood beside Hardee’s just off of North Gateway has closed the nine apartments for now.

Rockwood firefighters got a call to respond around 6:15 Thursday evening and, upon arrival, saw smoke bellowing from apartment number 4 and immediately attacked the inside of the apartment and put out the fire, but not before some damage to other apartments beside it.

According to fire department sources we spoke with, a husband and wife were occupying apartment number 4, but it’s still unknown exactly what caused the fire.

The Red Cross came to Rockwood to assist all other occupants with a place to stay for the night as all other residents occupying the Goldstone Apartments had to leave because the power was shut off to the entire complex for the evening until an investigation can be forthcoming.

Rockwood fire officials wish to thank Harriman fire for their quick response to assist them in getting the fire out.
