A former Cumberland County leader and local businessman has passed away. Edgar Leland Sherrill Jr, also known as Jody, passed away Thursday at his home in Crab Orchard. Jody Sherrill had an illustrious career starting as an Alderman for the City of Crab Orchard from 1976-1981 as well as serving as mayor of the city from 1991-9194. He had also been a volunteer firefighter and served as Quartermaster of Local VFW Post # 9686 for 25 years. Services will be held Wed. Mar. 15 at 10 AM at Crab Orchard Christian Church with burial in Haley’s Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tues. Mar. 14 at Bilbrey Funeral Home.
