FORMER NASHVILLE PASTOR ACC– USED OF MOLESTING SEVERAL CHILDREN

A longtime pastor was extradited to Tennessee yesterday to face charges of molesting several children during his 20 years leading a Nashville congregation.

Matthew Dennis Patterson, 45, was reportedly arrested March 8 by Nashville police in Pennsylvania, where he moved after leaving Nolensville Road Baptist Church last September. The arrest came after a six-month investigation.

After Patterson’s resignation, authorities say church members went to police with complaints about his requests to “engage in strange activities” with children. The incidents reportedly took place between 1998 and 2017. Police say most of the victims were boys.

According to a police statement, children told adult church members Patterson had asked them to sit on his face and stomach, sometimes in their underwear.

Patterson has been indicted on eight counts of aggravated sexual battery. Bond was set at $100,000. Police say each count is linked to a different child.
