FOUR CHILD SEX CRIME CASES APPEAR ON CUMBERLAND COUNTY CRIMINAL COURT DOCKET
Four child sex crime cases appeared on the docket this morning in Cumberland County Criminal Court.
Officials say 51-year-old Larry Norman Flake II faces indictments of aggravated sexual battery and continuous sexual abuse of a child. Prosecutors say earlier this year engaged in sexual activity with a victim under the age of 11. The indictment states Flake repeated the act with the victim three times between November 2020 and April 2023. In court today, his case was continued to November 6, 2023.
Rebecca Leigh Kennedy, age 30, was indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury in January 2023 for aggravated statutory rape. Court documents indicate in October 2022, Kennedy sexually penetrated a 14-year-old. Authorities say 32-year-old Brandon Wayne Rains faces a charge of aggravated statutory rape. The indictment states in July 2020, Rains engaged in sex with a minor. Both will return to court November 14, 2023.
Ernest Melvin Wood, Jr., age 77, was indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury in August 2023 for sexual exploitation of a minor. Court documents state Wood was in possession of more than 100 images depicting minors engaged in sexual activity. The defense attorney for Wood, Kevin Bryant, entered a plea this morning of not guilty for his client. Judge Wesley Bray set the next court date for Wood on January 17, 2024.
