HIGH SPEED CHASE RESULTS IN ACCIDENT AND ARREST

A high-speed police pursuit that started in Crossville this afternoon ended shortly afterwards with one in custody. Crossville police observed a vehicle occupied by 38-year-old Rubin Scarlett at the intersection of Rose and Stanley Street. Officers knew that Scarlett was wanted on a warrant and attempted to pull him over. That is when police say the chase started. Scarlett reportedly stopped at the corner of Miller Bypass and Stanley Street where an unidentified female bailed out of the vehicle. Scarlett then drove northward to Highway 70 and proceeded west where the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department took up the chase at the Crossville city limits. Deputies chased Scarlett to White County where their officers continued the pursuit until Scarlett crashed on the highway in the DeRossett community. Scarlett faces a host of charges in connection with the incident.
