HUNGRY-MAN DINNER PRODUCT RECALLED FOR SALMONELLA RISK

A frozen meal from the brand Hungry-Man has been recalled because of salmonella concerns, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. FSIS issued a public-health alert regarding concerns of products being contaminated with salmonella in whey powder that’s been recalled by the ingredient’s producer.

The Hungry-Man microwavable dinners that have been recalled are 15.25 ounce “Chipotle BBQ Sauced Boneless Chicken Wyngz” with a “best buy” date of 9/16/19. Pinnacle Foods Inc., which produces the meals, and voluntarily recalled them after being notified by its supplier that the recalled whey powder ingredient had been used in the ranch dressing seasoning supplied to it. The seasoning was added into the mashed potatoes and also packaged with the boneless-chicken dinner.

The recalled product has an establishment number of either “EST. P138” or “P-138” on the side of the carton.

Per the USDA, “Additional FSIS-regulated products containing the recalled whey powder may be added to this public health alert as more information becomes available.” We’ve already seen quite a few recalls lately, including Kellogg’s Honey Smacks, Ritz Crackers, Pepperidge Farm’s Goldfish Crackers and most recently, Taco Bell Cheese Dip.

If you have any of the recalled products, do not eat them and throw it away.
