KINGSTON MAN FACES DRUG CHARGES, CHILD AB– USE AND NEGLECT
A Kingston man is facing drug charges along with child abuse and neglect. Wednesday, Roane County Deputies performed a welfare check on a 19-month-old female located at a Cedar Grove Street location. The child’s step-father, 36-year-old Justin Sampson, allowed authorities into the home. They immediately observed a bent spoon, cut cigarette filters and an orange cap from a syringe lying on a nearby kitchen sink. Sampson denied using drugs, but officers noted fresh blood and track marks on his inner forearm. The child was found sitting on a bedroom floor and appeared to have a rash around her eyes and mouth. Sampson also said the child had been running a fever. A small bag of marijuana was found in a pair of pants lying next to the infant, along with other syringes and a pipe with residue. The child was transported to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital by EMS while Sampson was taken into custody.
