MORGAN COUNTY MOTORISTS VOICE CONCERNS OVER “DANGEROUS” STRETCH OF HIGHWAY 62
Motorists in Morgan County have voiced their concerns over what they call a “dangerous” stretch of Highway 62 and they want to see the state do something about it. Fears center around a 10-mile portion of the roadway that extends from Oliver Springs to Petit Lane. That part of the road is narrow with only two lanes and was the scene of a fatal accident in December. More than 1300 people joined a Facebook group called “Build 4 Lanes on Highway 62 in Morgan County” after the wreck. A petition is also circulating for the state to address the situation. TDOT says that widening that stretch would cost an estimated $88 million and that no current plans are on the board for such a project.
