MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS, MULTIPLE INJURIES IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Cumberland County firefighters, medics and authorities had their hands full in the past few hours with multiple accidents. The first took place on Highway 127 North in between Norris Road and Mayfair Road when a tractor-trailer collided with a van. At least one was hurt in the crash and a firefighter was seen by a Fentress County medic on scene for possible heat exhaustion.

The second crash took place minutes later on West Avenue in front of Edgewood Restaurant involving two vehicles. One sustained minor injuries.

The third crash involved up to 8 vehicles involving multiple injuries just before 3 p.m. on I-40 near the Westel Exit. As of 4 p.m. central, westbound traffic was backed up from the scene east to near the Rockwood Harriman exit. Accident reports will be released at a later time on these crashes.
