NEW SCAM CALL REPORTED IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

A woman in Cumberland County reported to the sheriff’s office this week she received a scam call. A male subject by the name of John Marshall called her cell phone and claimed he was with the U.S. Marshal’s Office and they found a vehicle in Texas that came back registered to her. The caller claimed blood was found inside the vehicle and when they supposedly went to the address on the registration, drugs and several credit cards with her name on them were allegedly found. The caller told the potential victim to give them a day or two before contacting anyone about the matter and she would be receiving paperwork in the mail for her to fill out. Deputies in Cumberland County advised her this appeared to be a scam and if she received anything in the mail regarding this to notify the sheriff’s department.
