PASSENGER KILLED IN CRASH INVOLVING SEMI CARRYING LITTLE DEBBIE’S ON 840

A passenger was killed after a tractor trailer hauling Little Debbie’s overturned on 840 in Rutherford County on Tuesday.  Kathryn L. Sims, 56, was killed when the semi overturned on 840 westbound near mile marker 45, the report said.

THP said the semi left the roadway to the right, went over to an embankment and into a ravine. During the crash, the cab and trailer were separated.  According to the report, Sims was not wearing a seat belt.  The crash took place near mile marker 47 at approximately 8:44 in the morning.  The driver was not injured in the crash.

Crews worked to unload the remainder of the cargo and loaded it onto another truck until the semi could be moved.

No criminal charges are expected to be filed.
