Early yesterday morning, police responded to a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a tractor trailer in the northbound lanes of I-75 at Merchants Drive in Knoxville. The unidentified victim died at the scene.

According to police, the driver of the tractor trailer was unable to stop in time when the pedestrian darted out in front of him into the travel lane.

An investigation is ongoing.
