R.I.P. TO TWO ENTERTAINMENT LEGENDS; BOB UECKER AND DAVID LYNCH
The world lost two entertainment Giants today as former baseball catcher and sportscaster Robert “Bob” George Uecker and famed director David Lynch have both passed away today.
Bob Uecker was a primary broadcaster for the Milwaukee Brewers for 54 seasons. He was nominated by the National Sportscasters and Sports Writers Association as Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year five times and inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2011.
He was also inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2001, and in 2003 he received the Ford C Frick Award, an honor bestowed once a year to broadcasters for major contributions to baseball. He was also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2010, had a monument in his name erected outside American Family Field, and Wisconsin governor Tony Evers declared September 25th, 2021 as Bob Uecker Day in his honor.
David Keith Lynch is a celebrated American filmmaker best known for films such as Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, Dune, Lost Highway, and most notably, Twin Peaks.
His 58-year-long career would see him win many awards including the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, three Academy Award nominations for Best Director, the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, an Legion of Honor from the French government, and an honorary Academy Award in 2019.
Both of these Legends will be missed.
