ROANE COUNTY STUDENTS WILL GET CHANCE TO SEE TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE AT SCHOOL

Roane County students will get a chance to watch the upcoming solar eclipse when they are in school August 21. Roane County Road Superintendent Dennis Ferguson says the special glasses will be available for students in the school system but with a twist. Ferguson is asking students to bring at least five aluminum cans for recycling to school the day of the eclipse and in return get a pair of viewing glasses. Roane County Director of Schools Dr. Leah Watkins says that keeping students in school and allowing them to view the once in a lifetime event would be safe and educational. Ferguson said the glasses were made available through a special fund set up by his office through the use of a litter grant.
