First it was announced this month that Kmart in Cookeville will soon close their doors and now today (November 9, 2017), an announcement was made that Sears in Cookeville will also close. Company officials say they were not able to reach an agreement with its lease at Jackson Plaza. The store will be open throughout the holidays and will close by early spring of 2018 at the latest. Last week, Sears Holdings announced that 45 Kmart and 18 Sears stores would be closing nationwide, including Cookeville’s Kmart. The Sears closing is not tied in with the Kmart closing in Cookeville.
