A Sequatchie County man was sentenced this week for child rape. Court officials say 23-year-old Dakota Austin Waldrop of Dunlap received 20 years in prison to serve 100 percent. Waldrop pleaded guilty to two counts each of rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery.

Dunlap police were called to a home in July 2017 when a 5-year-old child told her 46-year-old grandmother that Waldrop had touched her private parts. Waldrop was the boyfriend of the grandmother, who had custody of the child. Officers say another incident involving Waldrop and the minor happened in November 2016 when she was 4-years-old.

The child is now in the custody of DCS.
