The TBI is investigating the death of a man who was being detained by the White County Sheriff’s Dept. Preliminary reports are that the subject, whose identity has not been revealed, was a passenger in a vehicle which had been involved in a wreck in DeKalb County. He was discovered just over the county line in White County, and when officers attempted to hold him, he began assaulting the deputies. A taser was deployed and the suspect was handcuffed. After officers arrived at the county jail, they found the man unresponsive. He was then taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
