TENNESSEE HAS ANOTHER RECORD-LOW UNEMPLOYMENT MONTH IN JULY

Tennessee Dept. of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips says that the state has made history for the second consecutive month with a record-setting preliminary unemployment rate of 3.4 percent for July 2017. This exceeds the previous month’s revised rate of 3.6 percent. Over the past year, Tennessee’s unemployment rate fell a notable one and four-tenths percentage point from 4.8 to 3.4 percent while the national rate also continued to decline. The largest industry increases in jobs came in accommodation and food services, with administrative/support/waste and wholesale trade leading the way.
