TENNESSEE HIGHWAY PATROL INCREASING PATROLS FOR SOLAR ECLIPSE

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is stepping up patrols on roads as early as tomorrow (Sunday, August 20, 2017), in preparation for an estimated 1.5 million visitors to the state because of viewing for the solar eclipse. Patrols will happen in 12-hour shifts, with everyone on staff helping somehow to keep highways safe. Troopers reminds everyone that stopping along the road to view the eclipse is not an option. Shoulders are for emergency stopping only, and they will be working to keep roads clear on Monday. Officers say it will be not only illegal to pull over on the shoulder of an interstate or highway for a non-emergency situation, it is also dangerous. Tickets will be issued for those caught.
