TENNESSEE HIGHWAY PATROL TO RAMP UP EFFORTS DURING HALLOWEEN NIGHT

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be out in full force for this Halloween. THP Commander Tracey Trott states that troopers will be holding saturations and enforcement checkpoints throughout the state on Halloween night. According to officials, 17 deaths were recorded during Halloween in Tennessee in 2016. Seven of those deaths were alcohol-related. Pedestrian fatalities are also on the upswing this year at a 17 percent increase during the same time in 2016. Troopers advise drivers to slow down and exercise caution while children are outdoors trick-or-treating. Be alert for kids darting between vehicles and shrubbery, and avoid passing vehicles that have stopped to drop off or pickup children.
